Difference between toupe and toupee
Toupe and toupee are two words that are used as one another and in place of each other because their meanings are very similar. Toupe refers to a piece of hair that is used to cover partial baldness. Toupee, with double E at the end means a wig of false hair used mostly by men.

Because of their similar meanings, toupee and toupe are used to describe the same thing, namely a wig, the only difference being the size.

Practically there is no major mistake in using either of these words. They both are accepted in English and both of them are used also.

Some sources can consider the form with a single E at the end a spelling mistake but this is a misconception and both forms are correct.
