Tiger vs Virgin Airlines, which is better?

Tiger
Based in Melbourne, Victoria, Tigerair Australia, or Tiger as it is most commonly known, is a low-cost airline which began operations on 23rd November, 2007. Owing to its strategy of focussing on low-budget travellers whom it flies to various points within Australia, it has succeeded in bouncing back after having been grounded by CASA for one year. It is the newest addition to the domestic, budget airline market in Oceania. It operates domestic as well several international flights.
Owned by Virgin Australia, Tigerair offers 17 destinations to choose from and operates from three bases namely Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. Its fleet comprises of 13 aircrafts of the A320-232 type and being a low-budget airline, Tigerair offers only one class to its passengers namely Economy wherein the number of seats are 180. Crucial in this airlines’ lifecycle was the phase when it scored less than 40% in customer satisfaction in the month of June, 2012. From this point the airline bounced back to score 64.6% three months later in the month of November in the same year.
Food and beverage service on-board the aircraft is offered through a purchase programme named ‘Tiger Bites’ and comprises of sandwiches, beverages, beer and wine, all of which can be bought on board. There is an in-flight magazine too named Tiger Tales which is offered free of charge to all travellers.
Virgin Australia
Virgin Australia Airlines is the second largest in the country-continent Down-Under and has acquired popularity on account of its strategy of letting the customer decide whether he wants to travel low-budget or pay more and enjoy a full-fledged service. Thus, it aims to make a mark in both worlds wherein it would attract low-budget travellers on one hand and business segment on the other. It is also boasts of total ownership of Tigerair Australia since October, 2014.
With its head-office in Brisbane, this airline has earned several awards, most prominent amongst them being the five conferred upon its employees by Customer Service Institute of Australia in 2009. Another distinction was the award bagged by Velocity, its frequent flyer program, in 2009 wherein it was adjudged best in five categories as a recipient of Freddie Awards, the highest honour in the travel industry.
Currently, Virgin Australia’s fleet comprises of six Airbus A330-200, two Boeing 737-700, 74 aircrafts of Boeing 737-800, five Boeing 777-300ER and 18 Embraer E-190AR. Travellers can choose between Economy, Premium Economy and Business Class for domestic flights as also international operations which extend over several hours. In-flight amenities include food-&-beverage service and entertainment in form of music, movies and television programs.
Does Tiger or Virgin offer more value?
Virgin is more established, has more flights, usually more expensive but some would say more reliable. Both offer domestic flights between major Australian destinations, including Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney as well as New Zealand and Asia destinations.
