Solo or Group Travel Holidays?
Let’s look at some differences between and pros and cons of travelling solo vs in a group on your next holiday.
Planning a trip overseas is an exciting task indeed. You know the basic destination, if not the specific places, at least a decent sketch of the countries or continent at the very least. Things can get a bit more tricky after that. A question that travellers often ask themselves is whether to venture on a trip solo or go for the guided tour option. Whether Europe (or a smaller trip around just France or England), South America, Australia, New Zealand or the United States, both solo and guided group tour have their own sets of pros and cons. We come to the question of guided vs solo tours that you may be faced with.
Guided Group Tours
Generally speaking, the pros of guided group tours include comfort in knowing that details are being looked after for you, ease of meeting new people, “insider knowledge” of your tour guides and many would say safety in numbers.
The cons of guided tours or bus tours are that they are rigid, often fast paced, expensive and the people you are meeting are not locals and in some ways distance you from immersing yourself in local culture.
Solo Travel
On the other hand, pros of solo travel are that you have independence and decide your activities. You can spend more or less time in a given destination as you please. This opens the trip up to exciting possibilities that will suit certain personalities. You will be able to see the locals, blend in a bit more and meet a diverse set of people.
The cons or bad aspects of solo travel can include loneliness, the possibility of getting stuck in stressful situations alone (lost in Rome at night without speaking Italian anyone?) and the difficulty of sharing experiences, both positive and negative of your trip.

What do you think is better?
But enough of what we think, I would like to know your experiences, your stories and what you think about solo vs guided tour travel.
Sharing facts from your travels will help others have a better time on their travels. [addtoany]
Always go solo. You feel the culture, the streets. You test yourself. Find new friends. I would always go solo rather than travel in an organised group.
I can’t say what I really think about that question. Sometimes I want to be only by myself, just to have time to think, time to see something new without thinking about my group, about their plans, etc. Usually I travel alone to find new people, new friends. People that I don’t know but we already have something in common – we love traveling, we love the new things. But sometimes when I go to the same places as before, I go with friends to show them what I saw, to see what they think about it. To see where my stories come from.
So I cant say anything I think that it really depends of you, what do you want to achieve by traveling with a group or solo. 🙂
