We put the two international flight favourites head to head in a range of fields based on facilities and customer opinion.
Singapore Airlines vs Emirates
Country of Origin: Singapore
Country of Origin: United Arab Emirates
1. Reach?
Both of the airlines offer a wide range of international flights. Singapore Airlines is one of the world leaders in and fly between six continents. They were the 1st first operator to use the 380, and currently fly to approximately sixty two destinations. Emirates is another giant, rapidly expanding and now not only the largest airline in their region but the world, operating about two and a half thousand passenger flights per week, from its home airport at the Dubai International Airport Terminal 3, to 62 countries across six continents.
Verdict: Hard to separate. Currently, Emirates hold the slight edge on Singapore Airlines in reach.
2. In Flight Entertainment?
Again, both are world leaders in in-flight-entertainment. About 10 years ago, Singapore was the undisputed leader , however they have been taken over by Emirates in recent years and with the latest updates to the Emirates entertainment systems in flight, the choice is simple.
Verdict: Emirates
Numerous recent surveys and our experience has shown that Singapore Airlines edge Emirates in this field but both maintain high standards of service and have a multiculutral, friendly team approach to service.
Verdict: Singapore Airlines
4. Frequent Flyer Program
Singapore Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance network, which is the largest global airline network that maintains some of the highest industry standards of service, security and technical infrastructure. The program is flexible and has numerous options.
The Emirates program, Skywards, is also very solid and consistently expanding. The program also includes another 5 partners. Like Star Alliance, as a Skywards member you get a range of earning and redemption opportunities outside of flight tickets, including hotels, leisure and lifestyle partners, car rentals and banking/financial partners.
Verdict: Singapore Airlines

Overall Choice
Both carriers offer a comprehensive service with a wide range of destinations. We feel that your choice should depend on price, availability, personal experience and transit time.
In the case they are equal in these four fields for your choice of flight, even though Emirates have been voted best over the last few years, I would give the slight edge to Singapore Airlines and give them a fresh chance.
