Should you wear a short dress or a long dress to the prom? Every member of the feminine gender struggles with this dilemma at some point in her life and welcomes a bit of guidance as though it were a blessing from the heavens above.
Traditionally, prom dresses are supposed to be long and flowing, some of the common designs being a ball gown and a mermaid gown, wherein the former is ideal for a lady who wishes to hide her extra pounds and the latter is perfect for accentuating her waist and hips. One of the plus points of long prom dresses is knee-high slit that adds a touch of frivolity to the otherwise usual princess design. That said, at times length might become a problem, especially when the venue is a college ground or a gym wherein you would be perpetually in danger of tripping over your gown or in the worse scenario, causing it to tear.
Short prom dresses empower you to appear taller than your natural height and grant freedom of movement to a much higher degree than a gown can ever provide. Owing to its semi-formal feel, such a dress is much more versatile and can prove to be your long-term party companion on being maintained well. However, while opting for a short dress, you must make it a point to consult with the organizers as to the permitted length so that you do not end up spending the evening all by yourself at home.

I’d go with long dresses. See:
– You don’t have to bother about shaving your legs
– Choosing shoes isn’t as big a problem as with short dresses because a long dress would reduce the focus on your shoes
– If you’re a little plump, a long, flowing dress would cover that up like magic
– Fewer mosquito bites
– You can still show off your tones/newly shaved legs or your high heels in a long dress with a thigh-high slit
– A plunging neckline is way classier with a long dress than a short one. There doesn’t have to be anything prudish about a long dress. Or it could be prudish if you wanted (which a very short dress couldn’t be)
– A maxi dress goes well with the beach, a sunny afternoon lunch at a cafe, and, of course, a glamorous evening party, depending on what kind it is
– Lesser scope of wardrobe malfunctions
– You could always alter a long dress into a short one if you got bored of it.
