This head to head comparison places two budget carriers against each other. Both are relatively new companies and focus on the European short duration flight market. Ryanair is from Ireland whereas Vueling is Spanish.
This is how Ryanair vs Vueling compare based on your reviews.
Of Irish origin, Ryanair’s claim to fame lies in its low-budget no-frills approach towards travelling although over the years this strategy has earned it a lot of criticism too. Its airport bases located at Dublin and London Stansted, Ryanair Ltd boasts of a fleet of 306 aircrafts, most of which are Boeing 737-800 type and fly passengers to as many as 179 destinations, the main area of focus being Europe as also Morocco. Ever since it was founded in 1985, Ryanair has had its head-quarters at Swords and has stuck with its advertising slogan of ‘Low fares made simple’.
When the aviation industry in Europe was deregulated in 1997, Ryanair was probably its biggest beneficiary in terms of expansion and devising of a cost effective strategy. Sure enough the results were evident for everyone when in 2013, it was adjudged as the largest airline in Europe and busiest on the international platform in terms of number of passengers. However, low budget policy has its implications and in case of Ryanair it is evident in form of sub-standard in-flight service, tie-up with secondary airports owing to lower landing fees and passengers having to print their own boarding passes.
Vueling Airlines, S.A. is also a low-cost airline but is of Spanish origin with its base at El Prat de Llobregat, Greater Barcelona. It is one of the few airlines in the world which has the luxury of operating from fifteen bases of which Barcelona and Rome serve as primary hubs while the remaining thirteen are dotted across Europe. This airline came into existence in 2004 and its fleet comprises of 91 aircrafts, thus rendering it to be the second largest in the Spanish arena. Vueling offers connectivity to 155 destinations, 100 of which are located in the Asian, African and European continents.
Few airlines in the world offer more than one frequent-flyer programmes and Vueling is one of them owing to Punto and Iberia Plus. While Punto enables travellers to collect points and utilize them to avail a flight to any destination on the airline’s itinerary, Iberia Plus grants the privilege of availing flights or any other Iberia Plus service. ‘Love the way you fly’ is the slogan that this airline upholds and this is evident through its various tie-ups, noteworthy amongst which is one with MTV that was applicable in 2009. As per the deal, two Vueling aircrafts echoed MTV style exterior and decor through the entire duration of the contract.
