Apartment or House

When buying, investing or renting, the question of apartment vs house is one that comes up a lot.

apartment vs houseApartments and houses are two broad categories which residences are classified into in terms of their nature and location. While an apartment refers to a flat in a multi-layered housing complex or a building, a house is an independent structure which is often surrounded by a garden and features its own facilities. Both options have their own sets of advantages and disadvantages and for an individual who might be torn between the two, gaining cognisance of these is a must.

Apartment

Because an apartment is a single flat amongst several others, it is privy to amenities like power supply, water, cooking gas and so on which form a part of the building’s infrastructure. It is common for residential complexes to have clubs within the premises which are inclusive of indoor and outdoor sports, gyms and swimming pools. Parking spaces are usually allotted in a flat system and you will not be required to venture out far from your house to shop for grocery or everyday requirements. In-house staff of the complex is trained in handling electricity and plumbing problems and social threads are strong, thus implying you are never likely to feel lonely unless there is a troublesome neighbour to content with.

House

Living in house does mean that you have plenty of space around you and privacy to hold parties without the fear of other occupants complaining, but it also means that you are responsible for your own security as also utilities. Particularly advantageous is the freedom of expanding or modifying the house as per your requirements, meaning a growing family is hardly a concern, a feature which is not available to flat-owners. While you might have to seek membership of a club in order to keep fit or seek recreation, the garden in front or the backyard is just the right size for your dog to explore, children to camp or for you to practice your gardening skills.

Depending on whether it is price which matters to you most or privacy, the decision pertaining to a house or an apartment can be taken.

I have a house and an apartment. I choose the apartment. I love it much more! When its snowing you don’t think of cleaning the whole yard. The apartment is much more easier for “living” you have much less thinks to be concerned of. When something happens you have at least one neighbor that can help you. A lot of people hate their neighbors, maybe I had luck, but I am really happy with them they help me with everything so do I. We both know that if we want to live good we have to live “together” 🙂

We used to live in an apartment, but I did not like it that much. You struggle with noisy neighbors, you have to share parking and in some instants your car gets parked in. We lived on the second floor and the people that lived above us had small children that cried the whole night. If they didn’t cry the moved around furniture at all hours of the day. When they moved out we had a woman abuser and we heard all the fighting and screaming. Also when you have children you need more space. An apartment is no place for a child – they need to get puppies and cats so that they can learn the responsibility to take care of something. I guess my point – if you are young and in the mood for noise, no sleep and living in a small space and apartment is the thing for you. When you are older you need the space and privacy for your family.
